Inova is nationally recognized for care excellence
America's 50 Best Hospitals
In 2010, for the fourth year in a row, independent healthcare-quality ratings agency HealthGrades, which examines the quality of clinical outcomes among U.S. hospitals, named Inova Fairfax Hospital one of "America's 50 Best Hospitals." Among the nation's best for breast care
Inova Breast Care Institute at all five Inova hospitals – Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Inova Loudoun Hospital and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital – have earned a prestigious three-year accreditation in breast care from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), making Inova Breast Care Institute the largest accredited program in the Mid-Atlantic region. NAPBC is part of the American College of Surgeons, which sets the standard for how breast cancer patients receive care.
America's Best Hospitals
In 2009, for the 13th time in 14 years, Inova Fairfax Hospital was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Hospitals." The hospital was selected among the nation's best in three specialties, including gynecology, urology, and heart and heart surgery. Of the 4,861 hospitals evaluated, only 174 scored high enough to be ranked in the top 50 in at least one specialty.
Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence
In 2010, Inova Alexandria Hospital received a HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence Award. Inova Alexandria has received the award for six out of the last seven years and is among the top 5 percent of the nation's hospitals for clinical excellence. Gold Seal of Approval™ for joint replacements
Inova Joint Replacement Center at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital earned a Gold Seal of Approval™ for outstanding care in joint replacement procedures by The Joint Commission, the national accrediting organization for hospitals and healthcare facilities. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital was one of only six programs in Virginia to earn the recognition for hip and knee replacements.
Outstanding Achievement Awards
In March 2009, Inova Alexandria Hospital and Inova Loudoun Hospital received the 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, joining 2007 recipient Inova Fairfax Hospital in this honor. Magnet™ recognition
Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and Inova Loudoun Hospital are the proud recipients of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet designation. The Magnet Recognition Program® is the highest level of honor granted by the ANCC and is accepted nationally as the gold standard in nursing excellence.
Primary Stroke Center designations
In March 2009, Inova Loudoun Hospital was designated a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, joining Inova Alexandria Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital as three of only 11 hospitals in Virginia named Primary Stroke Centers. In addition, Inova Loudoun Hospital's Leesburg location is the only free-standing ER in Virginia that is certified as a stroke center.
Heroes in Healthcare – Charles L. Reed Memorial Award
In April 2009, Inova Health System was recognized for its continued efforts to increase access to primary medical care for uninsured residents of Virginia through its facilities, clinics and community programs. Watch this video to learn more about this award and Inova's commitment to the community
Commonwealth of Virginia Productivity and Quality Award
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital has been honored with the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award for Virginia, the Commonwealth's premier awards program for performance excellence. The hospital was identified as a model organization that has demonstrated excellence and maturity in its business approaches, deployment and results.
Accreditation for rehabilitation program
Inova Rehabilitation Center at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008, received a three-year re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for its adult and adolescent programs for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
Consumer Choice Award
In 2007, for the fourth straight year, Inova Fairfax Hospital was named a Consumer Choice Award winner for the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area by the National Research Corporation (NRC). The award is based on ratings from healthcare consumers, who select hospitals for having the highest quality and image in the country.
Inova is a great place to work
In 2008 – for the seventh year in a row – Inova Health System was named one of Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." Inova was recognized for offering employees numerous benefits, including access to flextime, before- and after-school care,training through the Inova Leadership Institute and benefits for adoptive parents.
In an annual survey that measures women's representation among top-paid and top-tier positions at America's largest companies, the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) found in 2006 that Inova Health System is one of the nation's top 30 companies for executive women. Inova ranked in the in the top ten and was one of only three non-profit organizations named.
Inova Health System is proud to be among the nation's select few "Best Employers for Workers Over 50," according to the American Association of Retired People (AARP), which honors those businesses that recognize the value of older workers. Inova was selected for offering such workforce initiatives as flexible scheduling and tuition assistance.
Inova is recognized for its quality business processes
In 2008, Inova Health System was ranked in the top 10 of the nation's 100 most integrated health systems. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Inova has been recognized in the annual report issued by Verispan, the nation's premier ratings system for quality in integrated healthcare networks (IHN).
In 2009, Inova Health System was once again named one of the nation’s “100 Most Wired” hospitals and health systems by the Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study.
