Emergency Department, Inova Fairfax Hospital

• John has been an Inova nurse for 2 years and 4 months.

• When John realized there was a need for qualified and experienced health care professionals, he was inspired to become an emergency department nurse. The emergency department is so broad in its scope of what a "typical" day might be that John was immediately attracted to the excitement and education that awaited him. He enjoys working with his patients that often include infants, children, adults and the elderly. John's position enables him to educate the public on safety issues, such as wearing a seatbelt and how to notice the early signs of a stroke. The flexible scheduling, support and encouragement that Inova shows its employees provides John with ample reason to continue enjoying his job. He is constantly offered educational opportunities to continue his growth as a nurse.

• In his spare time, John is an avid outdoorsman. He "follows the sunshine and where that leads him!" He says he always brings a good book to enjoy as well.
