Awards from Outside Inova Health System

Inova Health System was recognized as the third most integrated health care system in the United States, according to a survey by SMG Marketing Group. SMG is a Chicago-based health care information and marketing organization.
For the fifth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named Inova Fairfax Hospital one of "America's Best Hospitals," awarding the hospital top rankings in five specialties: heart, neurology and neurosurgery, urology, respiratory, and digestive disorders.
HCIA and The Health Network selected Inova Fairfax and Inova Fair Oaks hospitals and Inova Mount Vernon Orthopedics as national award winners in the listing of the Top 100 U.S. Hospitals: Benchmarks for Success in 1999. The listing was published in Modern Healthcare, the leading industry magazine.
Inova President and CEO Knox Singleton received the 2000 Distinguished Leadership Award from the Washington Chapter of the American Jewish Committee. The award recognizes his "extraordinary leadership in a wide range of professional and civic pursuits."
Inova President and CEO Knox Singleton received the Regent's Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). This senior-level award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are exemplary leaders in the field and significantly contributed to the advancement of health care management excellence.
The National Research Corporation, an industry leader in health care performance measurement, gave Inova Fairfax Hospital a Consumer Choice Award for Heart Care Service. The hospital was one of 124 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor in fall 2000.
The Vermont Oxford Neonatal Network (VONN) named the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital a Best Practice Benchmark Site. VONN is an organization of more than 300 hospitals that contribute data on all infants weighing less than1,500 grams at birth.
More than 7,000 Washington, DC, area physicians and patients surveyed by Washington Consumer's Checkbook rated Inova Fair Oaks Hospital's Emergency Department as their first choice for the treatment of minor injuries and second in Northern Virginia for staff expertise and overall service quality. Washington Consumer's Checkbook magazine rated Inova Fairfax Hospital the top hospital in Northern Virginia for treatment of major injuries.
The volume of births increased to a systemwide total of 17,415. Inova Alexandria and Inova Fair Oaks hospitals delivered 3,371and 3,576 respectively. For the first time, Inova Fairfax Hospital delivered more than 10,000 infants, and on February 24, 2000, the 250,000 baby in the hospital's history was born. More women gave birth at Inova Fairfax Hospital than at all but two birthing centers in the nation.
Inova Fairfax Hospital was named one of the Top 100 Hospitals in United States by HCIA and The Health Network for 2000.
Inova's Infection Control practitioners won an award from Fairfax County recognizing the outstanding support the practitioners provide to the county's emergency medical services (EMS) staff. Inova Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) achieved a score of 98 out of 100 on its triannual JCAHO survey.
Inova Alexandria Hospital received the Eureka Award for the most innovative agency project at the United Way annual meeting.
