A letter to physicians from Terry Lumber, Director of Inova Diabetes Center
Dear Physician,
We would like to take this opportunity to let you know how
Inova Diabetes Center can partner with you and your patients
for diabetes management. We offer a variety of programs that
provide education on many aspects of living with diabetes.
We empower people with diabetes to make lifestyle changes necessary
to successfully self-manage diabetes and to improve their health and
quality of life.
Inova Diabetes Center believes in the team management approach
to care. Our team of nurses and dietitians will work with you and
your patient. Most of our clinical staff are Certified Diabetes
Educators (CDEs).
We offer basic and comprehensive educational services for adults and
children with type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes. Our programs include:

- Type 2 Diabetes Basics Program (10 hours divided into 4 sessions over a 6 month period)
- Gestational Diabetes Program (group class with individual follow-up)
- Individualized Diabetes Education for Insulin Skills, Insulin Intensification or Meal Planning
- Insulin Pump Training and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (Inova Fairfax Hospital location only)
(The following services require no physician order and cost a small fee or are free of charge.)
- Pre-diabetes Program
- Diabetes Support Groups
- Diabetes Day Camp for Children with Diabetes
