Non-Inova CME Meetings
The CME Review Committee, consisting of physicians from Inova Health System, is responsible for reviewing and approving all CME activities held at Inova facilities. CME activities must follow strict guidelines and be developed in accordance with the Medical Society of Virginia Essentials and Standards and Inova Institute of Research and Education policies.
It is the policy of this committee to oversee the educational process and ensure the quality of the materials presented. All Inova physician education endeavors should include the Office of Continuing Medical Education in their program development from the initial planning meeting. Without appropriate involvement of the CME review Committee and CME staff there is an opportunity for misrepresentation and abuse.
CME activities developed by outside entities, such as medical societies, hospitals and other CME entities are prohibited from meeting at Inova facilities. Inova CME activities will include the following statement:
"The Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) is accredited by the Medical Society of Virginia to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Inova Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of ## AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Physicians may claim up to ## in Type 1 on the Virginian Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for renewal of an active medical license in Virginia."
If you do not see this statement please report this activity to the Office of Continuing Medical Education. The activity will be reported to the CME advisory Committee, Director of the OCME and the facility administrator. At this time, the meeting will be re-located to a non-Inova facility.
