Inova Alexandria Hospital Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and, in March 2009, was one of only 93 hospitals nationwide to win the 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer. The award recognizes cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients.
Patients at Inova Alexandria Hospital have access to the full spectrum of cancer care, including surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, as well as dietary, emotional and support services essential for effective cancer care.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Cancer Center was the first hospital in Northern Virginia to offer Trilogy™, a state-of-the-art linear accelerator that can treat cancer conditions earlier, more quickly and with unprecedented precision while reducing treatment time, improving outcomes and minimizing side effects. The Trilogy system's wide range of capabilities make it ideal for treating cancers including breast, lung, prostate, kidney, liver and colon. Inova Alexandria Hospital was also one of the first in the country to offer radioactive seed implants to treat prostate cancer.
Cancer impacts patients and their families in many ways. Our cancer social workers are here to answer questions and offer helpful resources. We can link you to community resources including financial assistance, transportation, home health care, support groups and counseling. Call Maureen Broderick at 703-504-7900 for more information about how our social workers can help.
