Endoscopy is a series of nonsurgical procedures that can both diagnose and treat problems within the digestive tract or other internal organs. Endoscopy for both adults and children is conveniently located at all Inova Health System hospitals throughout Northern Virginia.

Endoscopic procedures are commonly performed to examine and treat problems in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum (the first part of the small intestine), colon and rectum. Endoscopy is generally performed on an outpatient basis by a gastroenterologist and does not require a hospital stay.
