Pediatric Treatment
Many
treatments are available for children with heart disease. Medicine
can be administered to children to control the symptoms of their
specific problem. Other children can undergo catheterization, ablation
or surgery to address their heart problems. The best plan for your
child?s treatment will be determined with you, your cardiologist
and surgeon. Physicians consider your child?s age, weight
and growth pattern, tolerance of medications and your child?s
specific problem in order to make a recommendation for care. If
your child?s case is particularly unique or unusual, the case
will be discussed with a group of physicians to gather ideas and
consensus on the best plan before that plan is discussed with you.
The collegiality of the pediatric cardiologists is one of the strengths
of the Inova Fairfax Hospital
for Children program.
