Your room charge is based on the type of accommodations you receive and includes linens, meals and housekeeping. Additionally, there may be charges for nursing care and services ordered by your doctor, such as X-rays, laboratory work, medication and surgical supplies. The room charge begins on the scheduled day of your admission, no matter what time of day you arrive. You will not be charged for the day of your discharge as long as you check out by 11 a.m. Your physician will specify your day of discharge.
At discharge from the hospital, you must pay any outstanding balance over and above estimated insurance coverage. A few days after leaving the hospital, you will receive a final statement summarizing all charges and credits.
For patients remaining in the hospital for an extended period, bills are mailed to the responsible party and are due upon receipt.
Hospital personnel can assist you with insurance matters and in dealing with city, state and federal government agencies. If you have questions about your hospital bill, call Patient Accounting at 703-321-2999.
