“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision.” --Helen Keller
The Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Auxiliary has a long and proud history serving the hospital and its patients. Started in 1977 at Commonwealth Hospital and continuing through the relocation and renaming of our hospital to Inova Fair Oaks, our Auxiliary serves to promote and improve the general health of the community through education, service and goodwill. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Auxiliary is a non-profit (501c) organization governed by an Executive Committee and oversees the fundraising activities of Inova Fair Oaks Hospital’s 400 volunteers. Auxiliary members conduct various sales and events throughout the year, as well as, assisting with the operation of our gift shop and thrift store. All proceeds from the sales and events, along with the proceeds from the gift shop and thrift store operations are used to purchase equipment and to support ongoing hospital projects.
Each spring, the Auxiliary awards scholarships to area high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students who are pursing a career in a medical field. All qualified employees and volunteers at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, and qualified members of the local community, who best demonstrate a commitment to professional growth in a medical related career are eligible to apply.
Scholarship applications are available at area high schools and universities and at the hospital in January of each year. Scholarship recipients are announced in April.
