X-Ray
What is an X-ray and how does it work?
An X-ray machine is like a camera. Instead of using sunlight or a flash, however, it uses X-rays to expose the images. X-rays are similar to light, but they have more energy than light, so they can penetrate more materials than light can. Since bone, fat, muscle, tumors and other masses all absorb X-rays at different levels, the image shows (distinct) structures inside the body that have different densities.
For a general X-ray, no appointment is necessary during the Radiology Department's daily "walk-in" hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
