Amy Siegel - Clinical Coordinator

Your Guide through the MSK Program

Amy SiegelAfter 30 years in nursing, Amy Siegel, clinical coordinator for Inova’s Musculoskeletal Tumor Program, still has a passion for care giving. “I love the contact with patients and families,” she says. “Shepherding them through this difficult life passage and counseling them … I get so much appreciation and thanks from those I am able to help. This includes the patients, the physicians and the hospital staff.”

According to Siegel, patients most appreciate having “a connection” within the expansive Inova health care system. “One patient’s wife told me that when they are puzzling over how to accomplish something or what to do next, they simply look at each other and say, ‘Let’s call Amy!’ I try to make myself available for even the simplest concern or question.”

Some patients choose to navigate the system on their own, she says, but others require assistance all the way through the process. “Cancer is scary,” says Siegel. “Having an advocate is reassuring.”

Siegel brings 30 years of nursing experience to the Inova Musculoskeletal Tumor Program. She has been its clinical coordinator since the program’s inception in fall 2006. Prior to this role, Siegel was team coordinator on the Oncology Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She has been with Inova Fairfax Hospital for 17 years.

The long-time resident of Vienna describes herself as a “problem solver.” “I may not know the answer,” says Siegel, “but I’ll find it.”
