The services provided by the Outpatient Pain Management department at Inova Fairfax Hospital include pre-operative assessment of outpatients, surgical intervention, post-operative management of patients and patient discharge teaching. A full range of therapeutic interventions with or without fluoroscopy may include the following procedures:
The Outpatient Pain Management Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital consists of two procedure rooms, two examination/assessment rooms, a PACU and two patient consultation rooms. Case volume routinely consists of about 20 patients each day. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We assess a patient's pain-management needs before or upon admission to the unit to develop a plan of care. We then allocate appropriate and necessary resources to care for the patient and provide services quickly. When the patient meets discharge criteria, they can be discharged to home.
