Support Services
For Patients and Families
Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children offers a full range of ancillary and support services designed especially for children, including radiology, anesthesiology and nutritional services. But we also understand that children need more than excellent medical care. They need the support and love of their parents during their hospital stay, as well as opportunities to play, learn and have fun. Our services include:
- The Child Life Services department, which helps ease children's fears and anxieties about hospitalization, surgery and illness.
- A Ronald McDonald House, located on the campus of Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, which is a home away from home for the families of our young patients.
- My Friend's House, which offers children their own special programs, including a support group for those whose parents or siblings have cancer, and a bereavement group for those who have lost a parent to cancer.
- Chaplaincy
- Volunteer Services, includes volunteers specially trained to interact with hospitalized children. Volunteers are available to spend time with children in the hospital, particularly at times when parents or family are unable to be in the hospital with their children.
