Craniofacial Program
Working Together
The Craniofacial Program at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children uses
a multidisciplinary approach to provide the best treatment plan for each
child who has a craniofacial abnormality. Team evaluations include a craniofacial
examination, an ear, nose and throat examination, speech and language
screening, hearing screening and an orthodontic and dental examination.
Patients may be referred for further counseling with a geneticist.
Our craniofacial team is comprised of private practice physicians who
donate their time for clinic visits as well as other professionals who
are employed by Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. Our program is a
member of the American Cleft and Craniofacial Association. Several of
our physicians are nationally and internationally acclaimed and participate
in research for the advancement of craniofacial technology.
Diagnoses evaluated include:
- cleft lip and/or palate
- craniosynostosis
- craniofacial syndromes
- hemifacial microsomia
- microtia
- Pierre Robin Sequence
- hemangiomas/nevus/
birthmarks - nasal reconstruction and
rhinoplasty - tumors/cysts/skin tags
- post-traumatic injuries
