Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
The PICU at Inova Hospital for Children is the only one of its kind in Northern Virginia. This multi-specialty level I (highest level) unit provides advanced technology and intensive care for critically ill and injured patients from birth to age 18.
Staffed 24 hours a day by a multidisciplinary team of pediatric critical care specialists, this 12-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) also serves as the postoperative care unit for the many pediatric surgery services available at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children: cardiac surgery, craniofacial surgery, neurosurgery and spinal surgery. The PICU is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including specialized diagnostic and monitoring equipment.
