Admissions

Inova CATS is substance-abuse treatment program for adults. Admission is voluntary. The first step is to meet with the admissions nurse, who will conduct a bio-psycho-social assessment to determine treatment needs and the appropriate level of care. Further assessments, such as an initial physical examination, laboratory tests and other consultations, are also handled upon admission.
The assessment is designed to gather information on the history and biological, psychological and social implications of the patient's use and abuse of alcohol and/or drugs. The conclusions will be discussed in confidence with the patient and he or she will then be referred to the most appropriate level of care. Assessments last approximately 1.5 hours.
