Day Treatment Program
Inova CATS Day Treatment is a level of care often recommended for patients at minimal risk of having severe withdrawal symptoms and who are assessed as not requiring 24-hour, overnight nursing and medical care. Such patients' biomedical condition is not severe enough to interfere with treatment or require referral to a more intensive medical setting. These patients are provided with a structured program of up to seven hours per day, seven days per week, and receive the same intensive level of counseling and rehabilitation services as the inpatient community. These patients also have been assessed as having the support necessary to return home at night without risking return to active substance use. By remaining at home, patients are able to draw strength from a supportive home environment and make a smoother transition to outpatient and continuing care. Day treatment is often used following completion of detoxification, to aid transition to less intensive levels of care.
Families also are provided with counseling and support services, and referrals to self-help programs.
Services
Counseling and education are provided to teach the patient about the
disease of addiction and to help the patient develop recovery-based skills. Services include medical, social, psychiatric, psychological
and family assessments; psycho-education sessions; individual and group counseling; and use of 12-step self-help groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous and
Al-Anon. Each patient will have an individualized treatment and discharge
plan. Length of stay varies based upon individual need.
