Survey Finds Hospitals with IT Commitment Have Better Outcomes
Falls Church, VA-- Inova Health System has again been named one of the
nation’s 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems, according to the results
of the 2008 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study.
According to the new
study, the 100 Most Wired hospitals show better outcomes in patient
satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates and other key quality measures
through the use of information technology (IT). Marking its 10th year, the
Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study continues to be seen as a leader in the
field in analyzing and benchmarking healthcare IT.
"We are
extremely honored to have been selected as one of the top 100 Most Wired Health
Systems in the country," says Geoff Brown, SVP, chief information officer, Inova
Health System. "As part of our commitment to excellence in healthcare, we work
to incorporate technology in all aspects that improve the patient experience and
allow for greater ease in sharing vital information between hospitals and
physicians. We believe that effective use of technology can save lives."
The
Most Wired Survey is conducted annually by Hospitals & Health Networks
magazine, the journal of the American Hospital Association, which uses the
results to name the 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems. It focuses on
how the nation’s hospitals use information technologies for quality, customer
service, public health and safety, business processes and workforce
issues. Inova Health System has been a recipient of this recognition five
out of the last 10 years, reflecting the organization’s sustained culture of
innovation and technology solutions designed to improve patient care.
Hospitals & Health Networks conducted the 2008 survey in cooperation
with Accenture, McKesson Corp. and the College of Healthcare Information
Management Executives. The July H&HN cover story detailing results is
