Inova Heart and Vascular Institute Nurse Appointed Editor-in-Chief of National Nursing Journal

Patricia Seifert, RN, Cardiac Surgery Nursing Expert to Edit AORN Journal
Falls Church, VA— Patricia Seifert, RN, MSN, education coordinator, Cardiovascular Operating Room, Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, was recently appointed by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) to be the next Editor-in-Chief of the organization’s monthly publication, the AORN Journal. This will take effect with the July 2008 issue.
    “I’m a long-time member of AORN and very pleased about the prospect of working with the Journal staff,” said Seifert. “Surgical patients are cared for by many people along the continuum and it’s important to show our AORN members and Journal readers the many aspects and facets of care that our patients experience.”
    Seifert is currently the editor of Perioperative Nursing Clinics and is a recognized expert in cardiac surgery nursing. She has authored four books, as well as numerous book chapters and  scholarly articles, and served two terms on the AORN Journal Editorial Board. Seifert is a past president of AORN (1999-2000) and speaks frequently at perioperative meetings both in the U.S. and abroad.
