Inova Sportsplex in Franconia/Springfield
Inova SportsplexSM is a state-of-the-art center, specializing in orthopedics/sports medicine and physical therapy, as well as specific services for the unique needs of an active population.
The facility, which opened in June 2005, has 3250 square feet of dedicated space within the Inova HealthPlex building in Franconia/Springfield, VA.
Inova SportsplexSM is a fully functioning physical therapy clinic specializing in caring for people with sports-related injuries. It offers a network of highly trained Inova physical therapists and certified athletic trainers.
The staff has a wide range of technologically advanced equipment used to assist athletes (including the weekend athlete) in recovery from muscle or joint injuries and surgical repairs, as well as promoting injury prevention. This type of rehabilitation is designed to enable the athlete to return to high level of sports participation.
Among some of the more common injuries treated are:
- Patellofemoral Syndrome
- ACL Reconstruction
- Ankle Sprains
- Lower Back Pain
- Rotator Cuff Repair
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Neck Pain
- Stress Fractures and Shin Splints
- Strains and Sprains
Screening, assessments and prevention are a hallmark of Inova SportsplexSM
The facility offers a Total Body Fitness Program – incorporating
advanced technology to assess body composition, body fat percentage, lean
body mass, body mass index (BMI), body hydration levels, and basal metabolic
rate. Additional tests are run to assess cardiac fitness and VO2Max, heart
rate and blood pressure along with flexibility and strength. Based on
these results, Inova SportsplexSM staff creates individualized
strength, flexibility and a cardio program for each participant.
A number of community education seminars are offered through the Inova SportsplexSM facility, many of them onsite. Given by licensed athletic trainers, these focus on popular topics pertaining to injury prevention, including:
- Avoiding ACL in Sports
- Injury Prevention and Treatment for the Active Adult
- Injury Prevention for Runners
- Injury Prevention for Tri-Athletes
- Baseball and Arm Injuries
- Preparing Your Child for Sports
- Sports Team Parent-Manager Workshop
If additional health care services are needed, such as medical diagnostic imaging and surgical services, athletes are just steps away from these sports medicine offerings, also located in the Inova HealthPlex building.
Outcomes research
Staff at Inova SportsplexSM collect and maintain up-to-date
data in order to measure patient outcomes and satisfaction, which consistently
rates extremely high. InovaSportsplexSM’s scores rank at 97 percent for
overall service and care, and 96 percent for overall outcome of therapy.
Patients are willing to use and willing to recommend the facility 100
percent of the time.
