Since the first lung transplant at Inova Fairfax Hospital in 1991, hundreds of people have benefited from the skill and innovation of Inova Health System's transplant leaders.
Inova pioneered lung and lung-heart transplants in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., metro areas. Today Inova remains sole provider of the region's only lung transplant program, with patient survival statistics above the national average. More recently, Inova developed Advanced Lung Disease Clinics to provide highly specialized evaluation and treatment for serious lung disease.
The clinical experts at Inova Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program continually seek out and implement the latest treatment techniques. These advancements may delay or forestall the need for a lung transplant or offer treatment options to patients not eligible for transplantation.
