The research studies conducted through Inova Health System's Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program are an added benefit for our patients. Through our research protocols, we hope to provide new, cutting-edge approaches to transplantation and the treatment of advanced lung disease.
Some of our studies are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. These allow us to access therapies that might not otherwise be available to our patients. In these studies, all of the testing and clinic visits related to the study are paid for by the sponsor.
We also offer what we call "home brew" studies, which are based on
our own 
unique ideas. Some are quite simple and others expand upon
conventional wisdom. Home brew studies include observational studies,
which look back at data we have gathered over time, as well as unique
therapeutic trials available as a result of our association with the
National Institutes of Health and George Mason University.
We invite you to review our current studies, as well as our informative slide show, and consider participation if you are eligible. Our team's first priority is you and your family. We are happy to answer questions and address your concerns.
